4,000 people and counting have been shot in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s gun-controlled Chicago so far this year

CHICAGO, IL – Chicago, Il. has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation and yet, it is one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. To date, over 4,000 people have been shot in the democratic-led city in 2020, and there are still a few days to go.

According to the Chicago Tribune, as of Dec. 18, the actual number of people who had been shot, not necessarily killed, was 4,005 people. As of Dec. 16, the number of people killed by gun violence in the city was listed at 744.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, that number is double the amount in all of 2019.

ABC News spoke to Pedro Wade, who lives on the west side of the City in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Wade said that he was not surprised by the increase in violent crime and he believed his neighborhood was one of the worst in the city.
