An alleged murder inside a Concord apartment building on Christmas Day involved two men romantically involved with the same woman, police sources said.
Emmanuel Diaz, 32, was arraigned Sunday in Staten Island Criminal court for charges that include second-degree murder, first-degree strangulation and criminal obstruction of breathing, according to court records.
In the moments surrounding the violence, multiple tenants in the Elbee Gardens Apartments in Concord called 911, stating a man armed with a sharp instrument — who turned out to be the victim— was banging on apartment doors, an NYPD spokesman said Monday.
The victim was later identified as Rafael Ramos, 36, of Seaver Avenue in Dongan Hills. The man he was looking for, Diaz, was at home with his wife and two children, between the ages of 4 and 6, according to a police source.
