Biden to meet with New York mayor on gun crime

President Biden will travel to New York City next Thursday to meet with newly elected Mayor Eric Adams (D) and discuss efforts to combat gun crime.

According to the White House, Biden and Adams will "discuss the Administration’s comprehensive strategy to combat gun crime, which includes historic levels of funding for cities and states to put more cops on the beat and invest in community violence prevention and intervention programs."

Earlier this week, Adams, a former police officer, released his plan to end gun violence in New York, having promised during his campaign to deploy more police officers and reduce the amount of guns coming into the city.

As part of his "Blueprint to End Gun Violence," Adams announced the deployment of more officers in key neighborhoods where the majority of gun violence is concentrated.
