Bombshell study shows that cities with BLM protests had 6,000 more homicides than expected from 2014-2019

UNITED STATES– According to reports, new research shows that cities that held Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests saw a 10 percent increase in murders than was expected from 2014-2019.

Vox reported that a new study, one of the first to make a rigorous academic attempt to show the impact, if any, BLM protests have had on lethal use of force by police, found that the protests have made a notable impact on police killings.

Preliminary findings from the study conducted by Travis Campbell, a Ph.D. student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, shows:

“Cities with protests had somewhere between 1,000 and 6,000 more homicides than would have been expected if places with protests were on the same trend as places that did not have protests.”
