A convicted pedophile who became the target of a manhunt in Maricopa County, Arizona following the vicious beating of a sheriff’s deputy in Avondale was shot by an armed homeowner after attempting to force his way in the man’s residence on Saturday night.
Sheriff Paul Penzone briefed the public on the manhunt for Clinton Hurley, a 30-year old man recently released from the Arizona prison system for sex crimes against children. Already wanted for felony warrants, Hurley viciously beat a deputy taking him into custody in Avondale, leaving the three-year veteran of MCSO on life support at an area hospital.
“During a time when men and women in law enforcement face scrutiny, sometimes demonization, or expected to be perfect and underappreciated – but a scumbag piece of (expletive) out of the Department of Corrections can put him on life support when he comes to work every day in uniform to keep this community safe,” said Penzone of the assault.
