ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — In-store gun sales have more than doubled, online sales have tripled, and ammunition prices are through the roof, according to Mitchell Tyler, co-owner of Safeside Tactical in Roanoke.
“You may have gotten a box of nine-millimeter last year for $10 and you might be paying anywhere from $25 to $40 this year,” Tyler explained.
“Shipments come in in the morning, they get processed out maybe by lunch time and usually by the time we close that night, most what arrived has already gone out,” he continued.
Tyler says it was brought on by the pandemic, civil unrest, and the election.
“It really was just dominoes that fell just one after the other. Any two of those the industry probably bounced back from, but with all of them happening in such a succinct time frame there’s just no way that we could have caught up.”
