Minneapolis Riots, Looting Erupt Again After Suicide From Murder Suspect Approached By Police

Minneapolis erupted into a second wave of rioting and looting Wednesday night following the suicide of a male murder suspect when police approached him earlier in the day.

Minneapolis Democrat Mayor Jacob Frey declared a state of emergency and implemented an immediate curfew for 9:30 p.m. through 6 a.m., according to a local CBS affiliate.

Frey also called in the National Guard to quell the renewed chaos sweeping his city just three months after rioting following George Floyd’s death on May 25. After Floyd’s death in police custody with a life-threatening amount of fentanyl in his body, the state’s Democrat Gov. Tim Walz deployed more than 5,000 troops to restore public safety.
Police say the suicide victim was the suspect in a Wednesday afternoon shooting near the Nicollet Mall.
