Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer promised to bring up gun control legislation in the Senate following the mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, that left 10 people dead.
Schumer blamed the GOP, which controlled the majority in recent years, for refusing to bring up a gun control bill.
“This Senate will be different,” Schumer said. “This Senate is going to debate and address the epidemic of gun violence in this country.”
Schumer made the pledge on the Senate floor as the Democratic-led Senate Judiciary Committee conducted a hearing on proposals to address gun violence.
