'Stop the Gun Ban' petition exceeds needed signatures

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Organizers of a petition to stop future gun control are one step closer to getting their measure on the November ballot. 

Petitioners for the Right to Bear Arms Charter Amendment were given a deadline of August 7 to turn in the necessary signatures from the public. Organizer Jason Williams said they turned in more than 8,000 signatures required by the election office. That's 2,000 more than they needed.

The petition calls for a ballot measure that would block any future legislation restricting gun ownership.
