PORTLAND, Ore. -- There are still several questions surrounding the death of a 23-year-old Portland activist, who was killed during an incident early Saturday morning in the Kearns neighborhood.
Sean Kealiher died of blunt force trauma, according to the medical examiner. Police ruled his death a homicide, and detectives are still trying to determine what happened and what led up to his death.
Friends say Kealiher was a longtime activist and organizer within Portland's anti-fascist community. They described him as kind and caring, also someone who was fighting for change.
Just after midnight Saturday, police responded to reports of a crash and gunfire near Northeast 9th and Davis Street, near the left-wing hangout Cider Riot. On scene, police found an SUV crashed into the side of the Oregon Democratic Party building with no one around. Officers say they found evidence of gunfire into the vehicle.
