Four people were arrested Thursday night after Detroit police dodged gunshots from an assault rifle in two vehicles, launched a dragnet for the shooters and defused an armed standoff.
And that was just one incident on the city's west side. Earlier Thursday, police investigated back-to-back shootings, one of which was fatal.
These incidents are a part of a rising tide of violent crime in Detroit and nationwide. Earlier this year, Detroit Police Chief James Craig said officers are aggressively trying to investigate crimes and take guns off the streets after noting an increase in crime.
