MONTGOMERY (WBMA) — Gov. Kay Ivey released a statement Wednesday afternoon announcing she signed Senate Bill 2, also known as the Alabama Second Amendment Protection Act, sponsored by Sen. Gerald Allen (R – SD21).

The bill prohibits the state and political subdivisions of the state, and their law enforcement officers, agents, and employees, from participating in the implementation or enforcement of any federal act, law, order, rule, or regulation relating to firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition. It also provides criminal penalties for a violation.
