A concerned parent, Darcey Geissler, has brought attention to an assignment that her son received in a Fairfax County school.
In a “lesson” on persuasive writing, students were given an anti-gun essay to evaluate, rather than something with more neutral content, so that the students could focus on the persuasive writing aspect. There was no sample essay with an opposing viewpoint presented.
Though this sample essay is ostensibly meant to be just a learning tool, it does parrot many worn out talking points that disarmament radicals have used over the years.
